Capacity Development

The collaboration between APNI and Stats4SD aims to support the process of capacity development of the institute and its researchers in areas of data science and research methods.

We will use different modalities for this purpose:

1.	Mentoring. a. Research methods experts, statisticians and data engineers of Stats4SD will interact with APNI researchers through advisory sessions providing opportunities for developing or improving skills relevant to their work in APNI. b. In addition, APNI and Stats4SD may co-develop mentoring plans for some individual or group of researchers or support staff working on specific projects.
2.	Seminars will be programmed as eye-openers and opportunities for exchanging ideas and discussion.
3.	Training sessions. Once specific needs have been identified and APNI has decided they are a priority, training sessions may be run for APNI researchers and students. If you have any ideas, please discuss them with Scott Murrell. Stats4SD will be delighted to engage in the development of training sessions either online or for specific in-person events.
4.	Suggestion of training materials for self-paced skill development

When capacity development happens through the helpdesk and is of short duration (less than 1 hour), no additional budget will be needed. Activities of other types will need to be approved by APNI and budgeted individually. Please contact Scott Murrell of APNI, and do not hesitate to contact Stats4SD if you have any suggestions.
